2011: Got Pregnant, Bought a House, Had a Baby, Graduated College.. GOOD YEAR!

Looking back on 2011 and how much has changed I just smile. At the beginning of 2011, to be exact January 17th, 2011 was the day I found out I was pregnant. And I knew at that instant our life would never be the same. I look back and I remember exactly how I told Derek that I was pregnant and his face I will never forget; and that one face he has only made once in the 5 years we've been together, the face was actually a "oh crap" face. classic! With the start of a new year and a new pregnancy we tired as much as we could to plan everything out right for 2011. And we did.

Jumping ahead to May, We are now 5 months pregnant. And Derek had his 24th birthday on May 26th, and two days later we finally got the keys to our brand new house. Derek and I bought a brand new home, well new to us. it was built in 2008, and we purchased the house for pennies on the dollar, literally. Some will probably think that its junky because of the price we paid but the house is absolutely beautiful. Everything from the sinks to the light fixtures to the cabinets to the tile, to the elevation everything was UPGRADED. :) We really got blessed with this house, we started looking at houses with our realtor in the beginning of March and it took us two months and probably about 16 bids of different houses for us to finally find the right one. And to be honest when we looked at this house, I had this feeling that it was going to be ours. And it was. To thank God more, we were under budget with what we wanted to spend on a house, actually about $40K under budget. God has been so good to us. :) And it was absolutely EVERYTHING we wanted in a home. Derek got his garage, and I got my two living rooms. This was just the beginning of how God worked in our lives in 2011.

Jumping up to August, now 8 months pregnant and ready for our baby shower. Let me just say, (even though it was my shower) I have NEVER seen more gifts at any baby shower than mine. we got EVERYTHING that we asked for on our registry + MORE. My parents bought us the ENTIRE nursery furniture (crib, changing station and dresser). Derek's father bought us the stroller and car seat, Derek's mom bought the swing and rock and play (the SWING is the best thing EVER INVENTED!) My sister Vanessa bought us the pack and play, Derek's aunts bought us the mattress and other stuff. so much stuff I can't even remember all of it.. but again, We were blessed. And God again provided our every need. We were set and FINALLY ready for baby girl. :)

My mom and Derek began painting the baby's nursery. We ended up doing a lady bug theme and I wanted candy apple red on the walls, and Derek refused to allow me to have candy apple red because he wanted yellow. and we finally came to an agreement and did yellow and a softer shade of red, the baby's room is Sun Devil colors! ha ha.

Finally, we are in September, and September 9th was the last day of work for me and my maternity leave finally kicked in. My estimated due date was September 23rd and I wanted to work until mid September, Derek didn't allow it. :)

FINALLY the event that marked it all was on September 25th 2011. We finally welcomed our little angel:

Zyana-Lee Grace Gonzalez, her name means, "Blessing from Heaven"

At 10:02 AM

19 Inches in length

7 Pounds, 3.2 ounces

You can read my BIRTH STORY HERE

It is so crazy how life happens. She sure is a blessing to our lives and I thank God daily that he granted her to us for this time.

So as we were in the hospital waiting for Zyana's arrival plus post baby I was doing homework the whole time. Now we are November, on November 3rd I had my 25th birthday. Yikes. I am halfway to 50 years old. That makes me a little sad thinking about that. LOL. Well, another major event took place on November 12th, 2011. I FINALLY finished my Bachelors degree. Through the midst of it all I never lost focus of what I have always desired to be in my life. And I wont stop here. Just because there's a new baby in my life don't mean that I have to stop with my education. I will continue and wherever I end up, Hey I did it. :) The day of my graduation I wanted to make my mom and dad proud, and I did. To some, a bachelors degree isn't such a big deal, but to us.. its a huge thing. lol

Now here we are December. December was the month that I got knocked up in 2010. December 17th 2010 is the day the deed was done, (If that bothers you that I'm this open, stop reading my blog :)) LOL. Anyway, we had our very first Christmas with our first child here and it will never be the same again. And we are happy about that.

So this year has been by far, hands down AWESOME.

I got pregnant, bought a house, had a baby and graduated college. I'm very excited to see what 2012 brings. Maybe, just maybe Zyana will be a big sister :)

Baby Girl Zyana-Lee is 3 Months OLD!

I sit here in awe thinking that just 3 months ago my crazy little mini me was kicking me and taking my breath away.. now, shes here whenever I want to just get up and hold her and kiss her all over.

New facts:

Her ears are PIERCED!!!

Currently in size 0-3 months.

Wears size 1 diapers.  Will be going to size 2 soon. tear.

Smiles non-stop.  I mean, NON-STOP.

Knows what her hands are, and loves to have them in her mouth.

She farts like a grown man,  literally.  When she does fart I have to look over at Derek and ask if that were him or her. Seriously.

She finally met her grandma, AKA GG (Derek's Mom)

Loves breast milk. AND that stupid darn paci I said I would never give my kiddo.

Is beginning to be more talkative, whenever daddy talks to her she coos back.  ALL the time, for me not so much.

When she hears her daddy's voice she stops and tries to find him and when she does, her smile is so big her little eyes practically close.

She still sleeps in the swing.  We like her close.

She LOVES being swaddled.  It's pretty much the only way she will fall asleep.

When she gets hungry, she cries.  Wait, she screams like she is dying :)

Here she is... PEACE

Look at what I found.

I always knew I had a dead beat for a real father but never did I expect to find such a bad track record, even just for the past two years.  I was googling him just to see if we could find an address or a phone number to call him for Christmas or send him a card but my results weren't what I expected.  I'm not even mad, I actually think its quite funny that someone so ignorant wouldn't learn their lesson.  He's always been an alcoholic and unfortunately he chose alcoholism over family:

Back to work

I was able to take 3 months off work to spend time with Zyana.  Well on December 9th, I returned to work.  Easier than I expected.  We are so blessed that we do not have to take her to a daycare (if that were the case I would NOT work)...  My mother decided to quit her job in August to watch her grand girls,  She has 3.  Mariah Adrielle (2 years old) Naomi Adriana (9 months) and Zyana-Lee (3 months).  I'm not really sure how my mom has so much energy to keep up with these girls but she does it and I take my hat off to her for taking on such a big responsibility.  Anyways we are blessed that my mother gets to watch Zyana.  I dropped her off at 7AM on Monday the 9th,  I was running late so I didn't even have time to cry or anything.  I had reassurance that my mom was going to take care of her.  She did too.  Throughout my first whole day of work,  I missed her.  I literally watched videos of her and stared at her pictures for 9 hours straight.  When I finally got off of work, I sped home.  I think I even took the carpool lane on the freeway (yes I know its against the law but I wanted to see her).  When I finally made it home, I ran in to see her and she knew my voice instantly when I spoke to her, her smile was so bright it made me smile AND cry.  I cried because I missed her so much.  I took it better than most first time mothers do when they leave their newborn. She even slept on the bed with us. :)  I love her so much!

ahhh. Couldnt help it.. here is ANOTHER video of my mom SINGING FOR CHRIST!

My mom, The singer

My mom is such an amazing woman!.  God has gifted her with a beyond extrordinary voice!

check it out, singing God be the glory.  The CD skips half way through her song but she pulls it off!  I must say she is quite talented!

Zyana and daddy are very much in love with each other.

here's proof:

Zyana's 2 month Drs Appointment

Yesterday, 12/07/2011 Zyana had her 2 month baby appointment.  Here are her updates:

she is 11 pounds, 12 ounces
she is 23 inches long
her head circumference is 39.5 centimeters

She got her first set of shots yesterday.. and we recorded it.. are we bad parents!?  I guess shots are a milestone. she screamed bloody murder for like 5 minutes.. here is the video:

The month before which was her 1 month appointment are (11/04/2011):

she was 10 pounds.
she was 21.5 inches long
her head circumference was 37.5 centimeters

She is in the 90% percentile for her height.. That's all I remember only because Derek and I are both short, so hoping for a taller than average kiddo!

zyana's First Christmas Pictures with Santa~!

Aaahhh. this song... I love it!

This song reminds me of my daughter, for some reason.  The thought of her getting older just TERRIFIES ME!.

Worse feeling in the world.

Is to see your newborn child get sick for the very first time.  Tramatizing actually.  It's a very scary feeling knowing that their tiny bodies are so fragile and open to get anything, like the common cold.  Recently Zyana got her very first cold... she came down with it on November 10th, 2011.  We did every to prevent it from escalating.  We used the humidifier and we were suctioning her nose throughout the day... but she just got worse.. well on Saturday, Nov 26th we took her into to see her pediatrician, well the on call nurse practinoner.. she told us to keep doing what we've been do.. and sent us on our way.. oh, and she said we could give her a small dose of tylenol.. we did.. She didn't get better.

Come Tuesday November 29th, Zyana got a little worse.. this time she hadn't peed or pooped once.. I know poop is normal for newborns to not go everyday... but the pee part concerned us.  So we called the pediatrian again.. and he immediately told us to take her to the childrens hospital.  As soon as I hung up with them my heart dropped.  Why would they tell us to take her there?  Dr said there was a chance that her liver could be failing, or she had stones.  Well I called Derek and he just so happens to work right across the street from the Children's hospital.  I told him to just meet me at home... When he got home, we were out the door.. and she peed! Thank God! We ended up calling the dr back and told him she urinated, he insisited we still take her in..We  did just to be safe.  The monitored her and she was fine.  They noticed she was stuffy and they wanted to do a deep suction on her nose.. so here is the video.. My poor baby girl.

Graduation Time

For the past 4 years I have worked so diligently to accomplish one thing: My Bachelors Degree. And I am so beyond happy to announce that I have FINALLY accomplished this small step in my educational goals.  I was 9 months pregnant with 1 class left.  I graduated on November 12th, 2011 at the University of Phoenix Stadium (Cardinals Stadium).  I am so happy that I had the privilege to have my beautiful newborn daughter present.  Even though she was asleep the whole ceremony, My husband Derek who was the one who pushed me and ALWAYS got on me to finish my homework on time. (I am the biggest slacker/procrastinator EVER!) My mom for ALWAYS pushing me and giving me the encouragement that I have always needed throughout this journey.  and My daddy.  Daddy without you I don't think this would have ever been possible.  Thank you for always pushing me to my fullest ability.  and thank you all for trusting in me.  (I just sounded like I won a Grammy and I'm giving my "thank you" speech

Throughout my entire life I have lived on this Biblical scripture:

Philippians 4:13, "I CAN do ALL things through Christ who gives me strength."
Waiting back stage for commencement to begin
